No video of the event yet, sorry!

Free Software was defined about 30 years ago. Back than all software was executed on our local machines. In the light of this precondition, Free Software was defined as software which gives you the right to use, study, share and improve the software once you got a copy of it. Over the years Free Software became more and more important. Today Free Software is everywhere, in our smartphones, cars, trains, televisions and almost no company can be successful without Free Software. But at the same time the way we are using software changed a lot. In many areas software has become a service we use over networks. Often this is called "Software as a Service (SaaS)" or "Cloud". This creates new challenges. The answers we had 30 years ago are no longer enough to ensure software freedom. We are reaching a turning point where we either use our strong position to help defining software services in a way that they respect the users freedom or we risk becoming irrelevant. In this talk I want to share and discuss my ideas how to preserve software freedom in the age of software as a service.
